Who we are
Founded in 2009, the Abteilung Kendo des PSV Leipzig e.V. (formerly known as SHITEN DOJO Leipzig) is a comparatively young dojo. However, by now it is not only the largest dojo in Leipzig but also one of the largest in Eastern Germany. We are very happy to have a wide variety of Kendoka training with us, from children to students as well as elderly people. No matter who you are or what you do, you are always highly welcome to come and practise with us!
What we do
Our dojo is very active and regularly attends a number of local, national as well as international tournaments and Kendo seminars. We also receive financial support by the Polizeisportverein Leipzig (the police sports club Leipzig) giving us the opportunity to attend a high number of events while keeping the costs for each and every Kendoka to a minimum. We also give maximum support to our tournament fighters and encourage them to attend as many events as possible.
Where and when we practise
All practise sessions take place in our dojo located in the centre of Leipzig:
The dojo is easily accessible via tram or by foot. We train two to three times a week:
|Mon: 6:45 – 7:30 pm||Kata|
|Tue: 6:45 – 8:15 pm||Advances Kendoka|
|Wed: 6:45 – 7:45 pm||Beginners|
|Thu: 6:45 – 8:15 pm||Advanced Kendoka|
Dropping by for a training session
You are welcome to drop by any time for a training session. If you are not a member in a Kendo club yet you can attend up to three practise sessions until you have to decide whether you want to join us or not. During those three sessions you are also covered by our insurance. We have Shinais ready for you, so you can start practising right away. Simply bring comfortable clothing.
We also highly welcome all travelling Kendoka passing through Leipzig to join our training sessions! If due to your travels you do not have your bogu with you, do not worry! We have Shinais as well as Men, Do, Tare and Kote in our dojo which you are free to use.
If you have any remaining questions, do not hesitate to contact us via our website!
